Alibaba QoderWork Launches AI Productivity Plan
Alibaba has launched an aggressive credit giveaway through its desktop AI agent workbench QoderWork CN, unveiling an AI Productivity Plan that offers billions of free credits to users starting today, a move designed to rapidly expand the platform's user base and seed early adoption among academics and developers.
The initiative grants all new QoderWork CN downloaders a free one-month PRO membership, worth 2,000 credits. University students and faculty who verify their academic identities will receive an additional 4,000 credits on top of that base reward. To further accelerate network effects, users can earn up to 40,000 credits—valued at roughly ¥1,180—by referring friends to the platform.
By showering the academic community with credits and incentives, Alibaba is prioritizing habit formation and ecosystem lock-in at the earliest stage of QoderWork's lifecycle. The strategy mirrors classic platform playbook tactics: provide generous free tiers to lower adoption barriers, then convert high-engagement users into paying customers or into builders of the agent ecosystem that will power future monetization.
