AWS Launches AgentCore Payments for AI Agents
AWS has announced the preview of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments, a new feature enabling AI agents to instantly invoke and pay for external resources such as web content, APIs, and MCP servers, utilizing the payment infrastructure of Coinbase and Stripe.
Scheduled for preview on May 12, 2026, this move directly addresses the challenge of establishing a commercial closed-loop for autonomous task execution. By integrating with established financial rails, the feature allows AI agents to independently access and pay for external services without manual intervention. This approach not only streamlines operational efficiency for developers but also introduces a structured compliance framework for machine-to-machine transactions.
The initial preview is available exclusively to select customers. The strategic partnership with Coinbase and Stripe suggests that the service will eventually support both cryptocurrency and traditional fiat payment flows, positioning AWS to become a fundamental infrastructure layer for the emerging agentic economy this year.
