Nvidia delivers first Vera CPUs to Anthropic, OpenAI, SpaceXAI, Oracle

Nvidia has announced the first shipments of its Vera CPU, the company's first custom processor designed specifically for agentic AI workloads, to major players including Anthropic, OpenAI, SpaceXAI, and Oracle Cloud. Nvidia VP Ian Buck personally delivered the systems, signaling a strategic push into the CPU market. Vera features 88 custom Olympus cores, 1.2 TB/s memory bandwidth, and delivers 50% higher single-core performance than its predecessor Grace.

Anthropic's James Bradbury, OpenAI's Sachin Katti, and Elon Musk of SpaceXAI all received their respective Vera-based systems. Oracle Cloud separately disclosed plans to deploy hundreds of thousands of Vera CPUs starting in 2026, making it the first hyperscaler to commit to large-scale adoption. The move marks Nvidia's expansion from GPU dominance into the CPU arena, targeting the unique computational demands of autonomous agents and reasoning-heavy AI workloads.

The hyperscale endorsement from Oracle could open a multi-billion-dollar revenue stream for Nvidia, redefining the data center CPU landscape by embedding AI-native memory and interconnect capabilities directly into the core architecture. Vera's custom Olympus cores and high bandwidth are optimized for the low-latency, high-throughput patterns that distinguish agentic AI from traditional batch-processing models.
