OpenAI Developers has launched a catalog of ready-made scripts for its Codex agent, extending its utility beyond coding to include spreadsheet analysis, presentation creation, and meeting follow-ups. The library spans financial reporting, slide decks, Zoom transcript summaries, UI development via screenshot-to-code, GitHub PR review, data parsing, and macOS app creation, with access through ChatGPT Plus and major development environments.

Script Catalog Covers Financial Reports, Slide Decks, and Meeting Follow-Ups

The new prompt library for Codex includes a range of task-specific scripts, such as converting CSV data into XLSX financial reports, generating PowerPoint presentations with embedded images, and summarizing Zoom transcripts for automatic email, Slack, or CRM updates. Additional capabilities cover Playwright-based screenshot-to-code for UI development, GitHub pull request review, parsing messy data into clean structures, and building native macOS applications.

Multi-Platform Access via ChatGPT Plus and Developer Tools

Codex is accessible through ChatGPT Plus on desktop apps for macOS and Windows, and integrates directly with VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, JetBrains, CLI, and a Chrome extension. This broadens the agent's reach for developers working across different environments, enabling seamless task automation from within their existing workflows.

User Confirmation Rule Protects Against Unsolicited Actions

A critical design constraint governs Codex's autonomy: the agent must not send emails or update CRM systems without explicit user confirmation. This safety guardrail ensures that automated actions remain under human control, preventing unintended communications or data modifications while still leveraging the script library's efficiency gains.
