Snowflake $6B AWS Deal and Natoma Buy for Secure AI
Snowflake is significantly expanding its partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) through a massive $6 billion, five-year commitment to accelerate compute and AI capabilities, while also announcing plans to acquire Natoma, an enterprise platform for securely connecting AI agents. These combined moves underscore Snowflake's strategic focus on tackling the most significant challenge to enterprise AI scaling: governance and data security.
Under the expanded collaboration, Snowflake will leverage AWS Graviton compute and AI services, representing the company's largest infrastructure commitment to date. Snowflake has also surpassed $7 billion in cumulative AWS Marketplace sales, with over $2 billion in transactions occurring in 2025 alone. Year-over-year transaction growth on the marketplace has more than doubled, signaling strong demand for Snowflake's data cloud on AWS.
The acquisition of Natoma, an enterprise MCP (Model Context Protocol) platform, will create a natively integrated governance and identity layer for AI agents. This layer enables secure connections to SaaS applications, cloud environments, VPCs, on-premise systems, databases, and APIs. With 96% of firms reportedly facing challenges in scaling enterprise AI, Snowflake positions its secure, governed platform as the foundation for the agentic enterprise.
